well, i have seen this hypothesis from another website which may or may not be true
because i saw an article about a hoverboard which was issued in a magazine for mountain boarders, this is the website:

i just wanted some help about their energy making techniques, because if it is what i think it is it Denys the laws of physics. i think that Thieu use magnets to make a ball bearing keep spinning about in circles which turns a generator and creates power. but can you guys please check it out for me.
also check this out, -------->

First reaction is that this is unlikely to over-turn the law of conservation of energy. Having said that I can't actually see anything on the Steorn site that describes their machine so it's a little diffficult to see teh basis for their free energy claim. Did you have any luck findng what it is they are talking about?
All the video seems to shows is a low friction device, or a device that is complicated enough to have a store of energy being slowly used -up. Elegant but it looks like a hoax to me.
Anyone seen anything different?

yeah well it was refereed to me by a mountain boarders magazine and they said that stoern made a hover board and that it was due to come out in APRIL.. so i think it may be a hoax. however i gave it to my physics teacher at school and he said that the science is questionable but the picture in the magazine is definitely fake.. thanks for the help! even though it might still be true =S I'm still a bit unsure about it because the company seem so professional
one last question people..
how long to magnets actually last?

It depends on the environment they're kept in.
They'll degrade quicker if they are heated or subject to strong or changing electric or magnetic fields. In both cases the alignment of atoms within the magnet is slowly destroyed.
Having said that, the magnetic fields locked into rocks in the mid-atlantic ridge is one of the clearest bits of evidence we have for plate tectonics - and these stretch back over tens of millions of years.

wow thanks guys, thats what i love about this site, you ask a simple question and get a complicated answer, it makes my understanding of sciency stuff so much better

Looks like a neat piece of engineering.
A few questions "spring" to mind though.
Why is it necessary to clean the tracks as the ball and tracks look like their made of stainless steel and are enclosed.
He seems to be suggesting that pollution on the tracks will have an effect.
By cleaning the tracks it will always need a restart.
So, how long will it run for in a continuous mode?
