I just came across a very interesting forum called pro death penalty.com.  They do come across as a rather unforgiving lot though.  Says it all in the title, lol.

Is that right!! LOL Andy What is your dream?

I am done talking death Penalty... stuff... I want to think pleasant thoughts and I already have nightmares so I will sit out of that one! You Know night mares stay with you for many years, and rehashing only serves to bring them up again..

Really, What is your dream...? How are you doing? I hope life is treating you well... You disappeared for a while... I hope things are good!

Hmmm, unforgiving...I think that is kind of a generalized statement as given the type of circumstances....but there are other things we can debate on such as politics, artifacts, science....how about some scientific theories...such as relativity...pretty vague...LOL  Einsteins?  Take your pic...let's have some fun serious and not so serious...LOL
Title: Re: Debates
Post by: science_guy on 06/11/2006 16:13:59
Im not sure we want Pentcho Valev too involved in this... Einstien ruled out.

Already have several topics on Aliens...

Still have discussions going on perpetual motion...

How about theorys on how the solar systems outside of ours were formed?  It is interesting how the Gas giants are on the inside relative to the Terrestial planets.  Any Ideas?

We could always have a debate about debates, and if that gets boring then we could have a debate about debating debates that get boring, surely that could keep us entertained for a while  [;)]

So you want to start a debate about debating - about the styles of debating; the topics that can be debated; the objectives of of a debate; the reason people choose, or do not choose, to debate.  Take your pick [:P]

A largely debated topic.  Some people largely support it in order to save lives.  Others are entirely against it because it involves using embryos, and people argue that they are wasted lives.  Who supports this? Im not entirely sure that I do...

Stem Cell research is not just isolated to embryo stem cells am I incorrect! I know that is the best source as they replicate themselves, but I also know their have been more research done using your nasal Stem cells as they are the only ones in the adult body that replicate themselves, or renew themselves so there is more then embryo stem cells to weigh in here is there not? I am not debating, but asking as my own curiosty wonders about this myself.. I think I am kind of for it but not real stable on this yet! Something I am still weighing right now! Why indeed that I wish to follow along and perhaps learn some more!

well said!

Any experts who can put their wisdom into writing for the benefit of those who are ignorant of all things stem cell?

Thank you.. Do you know anymore on the research here, as this is a subject that I find completely facsinating?

Yes you are right Karen. I think embryonic stem cells are best as they haven't differentiated at all. Most people object to stem cell research because of their ignorant religious beliefs (sorry I have a chip on my shoulder about religion). Something shouldn't be band or hindered just because of some peoples beliefs.

On a related subject when would you guys call an impregnation, a life?

Stem cells fend off lung cancer

Cancer vaccine harnesses similarities between embryos and tumours.

I believe life begins at fertilization. When that egg begins to grow. I still am on the fence but leaning toward stem cell research as it has so many possibilities for healing and saving lives as I think it may be a good thing. Yes I understand the implications pertaining to a fetus, but their in lies my quandries.. about finding out more!

You can also get stem cells from umbilical cord blood, after birth these can be harvested with no harm to embryos.

I blastocyst which is a 3 day old embryo has 150 cells. On the other hand a fly brain has 100,000 cells. Most people wouldn't think twice about swatting a fly but oh no we can hurt the little embryo that has 666.667 times less cells that the fly brain. This is not a human life. The soul is not a magically thing that enters an embryo at conception. Come on people lets be adult about it.

Well, to start with, don't you think it's disgusting that it is legal to display horrific beheading videos on the internet (armstrong, Bigley)?  Something should be done to have them banned. Imagine being a member of their family and knowing their death is on the net.
