I'm trying to find a photograph of "Nikolsky's sign";
it's a kite-shaped skin marking, and any information on its cause,
(specifically why it has a rhomboid form).

I'm trying to find a photograph of "Nikolsky's sign",
it's a kite-shaped skin marking, and any information on its cause.
I found this link at wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolsky's_sign
and this site has pictures http://www.uoregon.edu/~sshapiro/Pemphigus/DefinePemphigusAndAutoImmuneDisease.html
Click the PICTURES LINK !

My mistake, "Nikolsky's sign" is a skin reaction like dermographia.
However Nikolsky did discover "rhomboid skin" ...
P.V. Nikolsky (1925) described rhomboid skin.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&as_qdr=all&q=+%22P.V.+Nikolsky+%22+rhomboid&btnG=Search&meta=
So let me rephrase my question. I'm looking for a picture of "rhomboid skin",
and an explanation to why it has this quadrilateral form.

Thanks for deleting the other thread.
The diamond shapes are red. I've found pics of pigs with it, (they look like they are wearing golf sweaters), but no pics of humans with it, yet.
The wrinkled back of neck above may help explain what causes skin to exhibit this quadrilateral form.

I think the answer to the question "why are some skin markings rhomboid ?" could be "helices".
Similar sized helices with opposite chirality will produce a rhomboid pattern when superimposed.
The rhomboid markings suggest that primordial skin has formed by helical processes, like vines wrapping themselves around a tree trunk.
