Title: How can I minimize the chance of picking up a bad bug when flying?

Lindsey Gbaud  asked the Naked Scientists:

Hi Chris

I always try to be near a radio on Fridays at 09h30 so that I can hear you on Redi's show in South Africa.  I sent in a question but I now understand there is rather a long waiting list!

Are you able to answer my question :

How can I minimize the chance of picking up a bad bug when flying.  I often get sick after a long flight - everyone says it is the air-conditioning in planes - so how the heck does one minimize the chance of getting ill?

I love your programme (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/podcasts/) and have now logged onto www.thenakedscientists.com and am listening to various podcasts (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/podcasts/).

I look forward to hearing from you,

Regards

What do you think?
