Ramsden is usually pretty good, I used the GCSE book to tutor some kids that had only done combined science and wanted to do A-level chemistry. She explains things vert well. For a more thorough study try Chemistry in Context by Hill and Holman, Nelson books ISBN 0-17-438401-7. If you are still stuggling with the concept of the Mole then I have the perfect book...Moles, a survival guide for GCSE Chemistry by Kieth Brown (Cambridge Education.) It might be out of print but if you can find a copy it will see you through your A-levels and beyond. ISBN 0-521-31298-1.

Hope this helps. With books, I always say buy as many as you can afford.
