Title: Can dogs learn to ride trains into town for lunch?
Post by: Bronwyn Nesbitt on 28/08/2009 12:30:03
Bronwyn Nesbitt  asked the Naked Scientists:

Hi Chris,
 Â
I've been reading stories on various online news sites about stray Russian dogs that have apparently learned to ride the subway from where they live to the inner city where they look for food. I was wondering if it is really possible for dogs to learn such behaviours as the articles claim.
 Â
Also, it seems like dogs dream, when they twitch their legs while sleeping and sometimes make whining type noises. Do dogs in fact dream, and if so, what form do their dreams take compared to human dreams?
 Â
Here are some links to the story about the Russian dogs:

Thanks for your wonderful podcasts (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/podcasts/), I also listen to you on Talk Radio 702 in South Africa .

if it is as the article says, that really is quite a fun adaptation! i don't see why this would be impossible. landmarks are landmarks, whether they're made by humans or the other forces of nature [:)]

Dogs prefer driving to get their lunch
