Title: What's Your Favourite Book?
Post by: Mjhavok on 10/08/2006 14:46:41
Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd ask the question. Do you have a favourite book? I have many but one book which I loved and have since read every single book by this author is "Magician" By Raymond E. Feist which is a fantasy novel along the magic, elves type genre. I also like the Robert Jordan books. Other books I like are To Kill a Mockingbird and Flowers for Algernon. In the popular sceince category I liked the following books, A short history of nearly everything, The Elegant Universe, Genome Autobiography of a species and The selfish Gene.

So, What do you like? Fiction and Non-fiction.

Loving books

Steven

I have to say that I'm with Neil on this – I possibly have two or three works of fiction on my bookshelves, probably not read, and certainly not a favourite.

I can listen to a book being read on the radio, but rarely ever read fiction myself.

I like all good books about physics, chemistry and mathematics. Just some of them: Mechanics (Lev Landau); Modern Quantum Mechanics (J.J. Sakurai); Feynman's Physics (Richard Feynman); Physical Chemistry (P.W. Atkins).

The book that most hit me deeply, however, is: Living Deliberatly - the discovery and development of avatar (Harry Palmer).

Howdy all,

I don't tend to read that many books, mainly because I've read all of the Mr Men series.

I do have a few favourites. The Once and Future King by T.H. White, Anum Cara by John O'Donohue which is about Celtic Wisdom, a great read, and finally The Catcher In The Rye.

Some days it's not even worth knawing at the straps

I have to say that Good Omens by Terry pratchett and Neil Gaiman is great, although I do like Pratchett's small Gods mainly for the image of the philosphers in the library with the earthed copper roof - they believe in gods in the way they belive in tables...

War and Peace - I like to sleep so I have not finished it.

Actuall, there are too many books I like. I think the first books I ever fell in love with - and the ones I probably got hooked on reading by - are the Horatio Hornblower series by C. S. Forester. I have been reading  avidly since then, about 10 years old.

Do you work or goto school at all. When I wasn't at Uni and not working I had alot of time on my hands and was reading 8 books a week easy. I also didn't have the internet at the time because of sound kind of repair work or something.
