david shaffer asked the Naked Scientists:
Interesting article pertaining to leukotrienes contributing to the development of atherosclerosis.
I have battled hypertension for a number of years finally to the point of having a SKS Kissing stent implanted into a bifurcated LAD occlusion.
Even with the occlusion opened and taking anti-hypertensives I still get hypertension on exertion. However, when I started taking Singulair. a leukotriene antagonist, my BP normalized.
Your study on leukotrienes contributing to atherosclerosis seems to be right on. Are there any studies exploring the use of leukotriene modifiers on heart disease?
Thank you for your time.
