Title: Can synthetic neurotoxicants modify behaviour?
Post by: smart on 07/12/2015 12:12:40
It is well known that electromagnetic radiation can induce physiological changes to humans. Therefore can long-term exposure to a synthetic neurotoxicant (ie: nanoparticles) induce behavior changes ?

I am sure it is possible for neurotoxicants to modify behavior.

There a plenty of documented naturally occurring and synthetic compounds that alter behavior (both acutely and chronically).

Not much is known about the (potential) mechanisms of nanoparticles. Some have been studied for bioavailability, some have been shown to be acutely toxic or carcinogenic. Unfortunately for thess type of studies, there are so many types of nanoparticles--even NPs with the same composition will have very different properties based on their size, shape, crystalinity, and what may be stuck to their surfaces.

Is this a topic of general interest, or is there a particular case or subset of cases you are interested in?

Thanks for the reply! I'm interested in microwave-assisted drug delivery:

synthetic neurotoxicants and electromagnetic radiation delivery of molecular compounds (drugs) to the brain via nanoparticle-mediated conjugation?

Let me know if you're interested in orthogonal NP-based drug delivery.  [;)]

I'm not clear whether this post is talking about:

When further clarified by orthogonal electromagnetic nanoparticle-mediated conjugation, I lean towards intoxicated verbal hash.

Thanks a lot. I'll clarify my question for you, since I agree that this must be a little unclear. I'm just curious to understand if nanoparticles could alter behavior by mean of microwave-assisted drug delivery. Do you believe
a nanoparticle-based drug can alter memory and behavior ? As for orthogonal nanoparticles conjugation, i believe electromagnetic waves exposure can provide a framework for asymmetric drug delivery .
