I live near the Cotswold Hills, one of the most beautiful parts of England. Rather than my posting pics here, just Google "Cotswold Hills" & you'll see what I mean.

Not my home town, but all close by (within about 30 miles range - although even London in only about 30 to 35 miles away).

The following is from inside a cathedral in the next town (about 4 - 5 miles away).

And the following couple are from a Wrest Park, about 15 miles north of here (it actually is now part of an agricultural research establishment, but the grounds of the old stately home remain open to the public).

About 5 miles from the village where I live is Edge Hill - the site of the 1st real battle in the English Civil War (there was a minor skirmish at Powick Bridge, Worcester, a month earlier). There are also other civil war battle sites in this area.

Ah, now it makes sense.  I don't know why, but I had been confusing Ohio with Oregon; but seeing those pictures, I realised we had to be talking mid-west here (flat, and flat - makes Holland look hilly) and not west coast.

It's not that I was unaware of where Cleveland was (never been there, but used to correspond with someone who came from there), it was just somehow my mind looked at 'O', knew it was not Oklahoma, so went for the other 'O'.

I see you have a Catalpa Bignonioides (Indian Bean tree) in your garden (assuming it is your garden!). What the purple flowering thing above the bench? It's a little indistinct, but it looks like either a lilac or a fig? Beauganvillia?

It is pink heather.. I love it it is pretty! Lots a weeds right now though..

Yes that is indeed my catalpa we planted it from a sucker about five years ago.. we brought it from willow creek! It is beautiful when it has all those lovely big leaves.. Yes by the way this is my very under maintained weedy patio! LOL Needs a major overhaul!
