Post by: neilep on 29/09/2016 16:54:11
Dearest Science Peeps Of Acadamic Awe,

As a sheepy i of course luff coconuts. Coconuts are my all time favourite oval brown husky things with white flesh on the inside. Coconuts live in trees and cycle to work each morning, they play the Tuba and serenade their pet fish to sleep. This is true.

I was wondering what classification Coconuts come under...so I asked Gerald (see attached) and all he did was wave some glo-sticks and continued to parrrrrtaaayyyyyyy !!!....so..no luck there !!

Do ewe know ?

Are Coconuts A Fruit, A Nut or a Seed ?

hugs and shmishes

Yes.

By which I mean that a nut is a type of seed, and nuts and seeds are part of a fruit. If you consider the whole coconut, including the green part, then it is a fruit. If you only consider the white interior, then it is a nut. (...ish... technically classification of products from palms, which are monocots, shouldn't be the same as classifications of dicots, like walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds etc.)
