Title: Why are tattoos permanent. Why don't they disappear with time?
Post by: neilep on 05/03/2007 15:43:11
Being a lover of fine art I admit to having two tattoos !

But why does the tattoo ink remain ?

Are not the cells in our body being replaced every few years ?

..why does the ink not dilute or dissipate ?

That is interesting. Perhaps it is because of the dpth of the insertion of the inks. perhaps it is administered below thw surface of the subdermal layers of skin... LOL Is that even a real area? Was subdermal the wrong term here? LOL We need a tatooist or such to give us anwers to a rather good question, cause as I see it we loose layers of skin all the time dead skin everyday bathing rubbing off on clothes etc. So what gives reallY?

The Ultra Violet component in sunlight can make tattoos fade

Quote
UV rays from the sun will affect the long term quality of your tattoo...
Not all blacks are the same with long term fading & UV stability differing between brands. So do your research and speak to the artist, they will be pleased to talk to you about which black they use, provide samples and portfolio shots for you to browse through.

Don't accept anything that your not sure about or happy with as lesser quality black inks can turn 'green' after lengthy exposure to the sun

which hit a female spectator between the first and second holes.
