Title: What is the proper way to dispose of fire extinguishers?
Post by: pirunner on 17/03/2008 23:29:13
Here in the US, they are catagorized by what types of fires (or combination of such)they put out. (A for combustables, B for electric, C for gas - I may have B and C switched. Some extinguishers are filled with CO2, some with "dry chemical," and others with I don't know what. First of all, how do these go bad? Do they just leak pressure? Also, what is the proper way to dispose of each of these types?
THANKS!

Where I live, to dispose of possibly hazardous material you either take it to the fire house or cal the fire department to send out their hazardous material unit. So check with your local government to figure this out. You can also recycle some of these by getting the people who made the fire extinguisher to recycle it.
