He's not a happy looking fellow is he ?
He was happily doing his thing running around , jogging five miles then he glanced down to see that three miles ago he had in fact trodden on a sea urchin !....here it is !

Now why there should be a sea urchin on his jogging route I do not know ..perhaps it was out for a day trip !!
But it happens doesn't it ?...one can have a cut, a graze, a puncture and one may think that what they feel is wetness...but then when you look down and see the injury/blood that's when the pain really kicks in........This is for injuries that you didn't know you had ! Perhaps you thought that trip up just knocked your knee or ankle etc and only when you see it do ewe realise that it's far worse !
...why's that then ?...why does seeing a wound make it hurt more so ?
Do ewe know ?..I don't !

Good Question... perhaps part of pain is psychosomatic or at least partially induced by the site perhaps it triggers pain receptors!

Seeing (and even smelling) blood can trigger vasovagal syncope, (fainting).
This is a reflex action to reduce bleeding by reducing blood pressure, (the assumption being that it's your blood you're seeing).

It is an interesting one, and something I have observed and studied at first hand whilst watching a tattooist at work. Many lads seemed perfectly fine - until they took a look to see how things were coming along and saw blood. Most then registered a greater degree of pain on their features - such as tightening facial muscles, wincing or sweating, others fainted.
I was asked to look into this and to see what suggestions I could make to avoid it happening. I gather witnessing it significantly reduced the numbers of clients sitting around watching. ;)
Out of interest, proportionately more males than females were affected during the period of my observation.

yes....we've all seen those scenes in films/progs where someone glimpses at something ' bloody' and down they go !!!......

Us girls gotta stick together eh ? when it comes to dealing with pain**...those wimpy blokes just can't hack it like us......I mean.....that's why it's us who have to give birth !!....sheesh !!...girls are best.....!!

Being as ewe are a ram and not a ewe, I'll tell ewe one suggestion that I gave the tattooist was to have a special 'stag' day or evening just for the rams and show those blewe movies that rams seem to enjoy and that would take their minds off the business end of the needle. It was meant a tongue-in-cheek quip after discussing other distraction ideas. He liked the idea, and tried it on one evening per week, it brought in a few extra clients as word got around and kept them watching the screen not the body in the chair or table. Trouble was, with all those rams around, things got a bit horny. Seems to prove the theory of where minds of rams are located, don't ewe think? ;)
Coincidence, this subject cropping up now, as I'll be seeing that tattooist again over the next couple of days. Have a few tapes that have been put together and some volunteers lined up willing to listen to those while they have work done, and will be observing again.
When I had my first one done, I didn't find it painful and even that lessened as I got used to it, and like a TENS machine does during treatments. Had no trouble watching the work being done either.
Found a few clients who had techniques that helped them switch off and who were willing to share those. One said he never looked, because if he did he fainted. Did the same when his wife gave birth too.
