I have this neat little book and I thought I would share a tidbit of information:
Underinflated tires waste as much as 4.5 liters out of every 91 liters of gasoline. greater fuel economy can be achieved by inflating tires to the maximum air pressure listed on the sidewall of the tire, resulting in less rolling resistance.
At speeds greater than 64 kilometers per hour, less fuel is used in driving an automobile with the air conditioner on and the windows up than with the windows down.
October 23rd is Mole Day, organized by the National Mole Day Foundation to promote an awareness and enthusiasm for chemistry

"Does water running down a drain rotate in a different direction in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres?
If water runs out from a perfectly symmetrical bathtub, basin, or toilet bowl, in the Northern Hemisphere it would swirl counterclockwise; in the Southern Hemisphere, the water would run out clockwise. THis is due to the Coriolis effect (the Earth's rotation influencing any moving body of air or water). However, some scientists think that the effect does not work on small bodies of water. Exactly on the equator, the water would run straight down."

Paper ignites at 230 degrees celcius

According to the film of that title, paper ignites at 451 Fahrenheit, which equates to 233.77 celcius. Ofcourse, it does rather depend upon the nature of the paper, the humidity of the air, and many other factors.

There is always a trade off between rolling resistance, traction, and safety. Good fuel economy is somewhat irrelevant if you have a blow out, or end up sliding off the road.
Not saying that one should underinflate tyres, and I certainly prefer my tyres on the hard side, but one has to also take into account the conditions under which one is driving, and if you are driving over rough or slippery surfaces, then you may well wish to drop your tyre pressure a little bit.

Is the hamster or gerbil?
I really think we have a problem even in deciding what amounts to a domestic animal – which is why I thought it was really too much a minefield even to venture into.
