Title: Help - What type of Rock is this?

Found in Central Oklahoma - on Tiger Mtn, just East of Henryetta, OK;  Just curious about it?

Hi okeyscott.  Looks interesting.  Hopefully there will be some local geologist who will know exactly what it is, but for those of us who are further away, like on the other side of the Atlantic, a bit more information would be needed. 

If no one has come up with an answer in a few days, let us know a bit more about things like hardness (outside and inside materials), a bit of info about local rocks etc and we could make a start on the guesswork.

The area were it was found is mostly sandstone - found everywhere on the surface and under.  Further down shale can be found.  As for the rock in the picture, the inside has a smoother texture and is softer (scratches easy with a blade) and the outside looks/feels like sandstone and is definitely harder than the inside.  Thanks, Scott

My guess is mud rip-ups deposited in the sandstone.  Storms can "rip-up" mud flakes and balls of mud and transport them to areas of sand deposition.  Are there any shale layers close to where you found these?  The mud can be from further out (calmer water) than the beach sands, or can be carried downstream by rivers/streams, or from adjacent underlying or underlying layers.
