Are Ideology and Morality like AIG and Citibank?

Are AIG and Citibank too big and complex to fail?

Can our high tech capitalism, where extraordinary power rests in ordinary hands, survive such a situation?

How can capitalism adjust?

Are ideology and morality too big and complex to be encompassed by science?

Can our high tech species, where extraordinary power rests in ordinary hands, survive such a situation?

How can the human species adjust?

I am really only interested in this later sequence of questions.

Darwin informs us that the species that fails to adapt to its changing environment will soon become toast.  If we lack the intellectual sophistication required to make a science of these two concepts, ideology and morality, then we lack the sophistication required to adapt to our changing environment and thus will shortly become toast.

AIG & Citybank have nothing to do with science.

The power of these companies did not rest in ordinary hands. They were the hands of greedy, selfish and incompetent pariahs.

I seriously doubt that any lessons will be learned by the mess these people and the politicians who allowed them to get away with it for so long, have got us into.

It has been announced that RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland), which has the dubious honor of having recorded the biggest loss in British corporate history, is to shed 9000 jobs over the next two years and a probable total 30000 jobs, yet Sir Fred the Shred, former Chief Executive, still refuses to give up a single penny of his £16m pension pot.

The only science is see in this, is the psychology of such an ignoramus.

The only science is see in this, is the psychology of such an ignoramus.

Therein lay the rub. The citizens are in the final analysis responsible for the foolishness that prevals within our society and the citizens have failed to make them self sufficiently sophisticated to comprehend what is going on.  Under such circumstances our species will fail to adapt to the the ever changing environment and thus become extinct.

The next question is, do we have the sophistication to recognize our present failings so that we can make the changes required.
