It is strange how old terms persist when the technology has moved on, we still talk about events being filmed or taped when they are much more likely to be recorded on a HDD or semiconductor store, about pictures being airbrushed, when it is done on a computer, conversations being wire tapped or the wires running hot when an exciting news story is making the rounds.

Interesting ideas about cameras and video recording. My guess is that for still photos, the "film" terms will extinguish, but it may persist for a long time for video production. Is there a good alternative term for movie recording?
Are movie projectors still using film, or is that also moving towards all digital? Ahhh... notes indicate a mix.
How did "filming" become a verb anyway?
And, why do many digital cameras produce SLR shutter sounds when taking photos?

I think cinema movie projectors a rapidly converting to 4k line digital as data stores are much easier to move around than cases of film and cost much less and can be copied without deterioration.
as for digital cameras making clicks I think its just nostalgia like electric cars having synthesized engine noises.
Having worked in the printing trade since 1982 with the first electronic picture processing I am always amused by talk of air brushing never having encountered any even from that early date
I wonder if telegraph traffic was ever intense enough to heat the wires I doubt it.

Aren't some of the digital image manipulation tools called stuff like "airbrushing"? Painting. Bucket Fill... etc.
