Hey I have signed up for two dating services and so far I have been bombarded by men who are more like between 20 to thirty years old, and 74 to 85 years old.. seriously... I am 49...Is It out of line for me to want to date someone closer to ten years my younger or no more then ten years my elder?
I am not saying they are not nice or interesting men.. but I feel uncomfortable dating someone that could be my child, and I won't do it! The same thing for someone who could be my father... am I the only women out there that feels that way or am I just way behind in the dating game...?
How do other women feel about this.. or you men?

I think it's very natural to want relationships with a "peer", and I consider ±7 years as peers, so for you that's age 42 thru 56. Of course, being a scientist, I'd like to see statistics, standard deviations etc.
Thanks for your response that sounds more reasonable to me too..LOL...

Karen check out of you can alter your settings so only men of a certain age category can contact you, many dating sites do this. Also make sure in your profile you state what you are looking for in men in terms of age.
I'm 34 and my 'dating' range is 30-50 for a chap. 50 really is the top limit, I don't want to date someone old enough to be my Dad!! :-)
-
I hate it too when men old enuff to wipe my arse want to date me !
-
LOL...LOL...LOL....You never cease making me smile....LOL..Thanks Neily!

Bugger! So I suppose afternoon tea is out of the question then? Probably just as well though. I don't think Mrs G would really approve.

Scared is good. I would think you can't be too careful.

Nah you get loads of wallies on dating sites... not wanting to date them is not being picky!!! [:D]
I am not sure if I will be told off for posting a link up ( its not spam mods its not spam mods) but if you haven't tried it try plentyoffish.com they have settings that mean you can really control who contacts you and who can view your profile. It is also free!
-
Well, to tell you truth I'm not all that sure about "Wallies". I do know about Wellies though, but I think that's something very different.
As for afternoon tea, I suspect it's a lot less popular in the UK than it once was. People are probably too busy nowadays to bother with it. It was a very civilized institution while it lasted.
The general idea was to have afternoon tea in the middle of the afternoon, probably around 3:30. You could load up on small sandwiches, scones, crumpets and the like so that you didn't have to eat dinner too early.
Strangely, the last time I actually had afternoon tea was in California not all that long ago. The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel used to do it in a beautiful room with a fabulous view over the Pacific. I took my wife and daughters there. Cost me an arm and a leg, but they loved it!
-
Heh yeah if someone offered me an afternoon tea I'd be shocked if they were serious or laugh if they weren't [;D] I don't know anybody that does have them. Maybe that's a reflection of my social standing (I'm from a working class background) but I think that's the case for most people, maybe even those upper-middle class types.
-
Yes. It was probably only something that the wealthy could regularly indulge in, but I think it was recognized as a "treat", even by those of limited means. There were Tea Rooms all over Britain at one time.
An interesting aspect of this might be that it was an opportunity for human interaction. Humans love to interact with other humans. Now there is little need for Tea Rooms, because we can interact over the Internet.
-
Go Internet!
Why I like it: I can reach so many different people, with different backgrounds, with different attitudes, opinions & temperaments with just a little technical understanding.
Why I don't like it: it'll never compare to the physical presence of having someone in a room with you [:)]
Anyway, this is going a bit off topic now!
-
Yep

careful.. thanks.

I bet that is what you say to Mrs Geezer... [;D]
-
There were 67 replys in my box in a day and a half!
-
What's a geezer-hood? Where can I get one? Would it help to keep the snow off me?

A Wally is a man who thinks he is a sex machine. He has a hairy chest or chest wig and quite often has a medallion. He is going bald but has long hair or even a pony tail. He is probably having a mid-life-crisis and may have bought a man-o-porsche.
-
Afternoon tea is rather old fasioned now but you can still get a good one at the many brilliant tea shops around the country. There are some excellent ones in the south west of England where cream teas can also be purchased. My favorite in the whole of England is in a little farm house close to Belvoir Castle (pronounced Beaver for all fans of our dear departed friend.)

Standard deviations are what you tend to get from men on dating sites. Beware of knicker stealing Mayors.

I love the rape picture. My Mum asked my Dad "What is that yellow stuff in that field over there?"
My Dad replied "Come behind this hedge and I'll show you."
