Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, Dutch born guitarist - son of sax & clarinet player Jan van Halen. Had the embarrassment of having 1 of his songs featured in "Herbie Fully Loaded" (2005).
Musical trivia for anyone who is interested.
"Jump" was written in the key of C, but live they used to play it in C#. That was mainly for the benefit of David Lee Roth (this is not uncommon with live performances).
EVH probably used a guitar tuned half a step higher (F rather than E) for live performances of this song so that he could play the solo in Am not A#m. Soloing in Am makes the arpeggios a lot easier than A#m.
