Title: Body Temperatures ...how much do they differ amongst species ?

Wocha !

You ok ?...good !.

The average human temperature is around 98F yes ?

How does this compare to our other animal friends?

cats ? dogs ? horsies ? elephants ? sheepies ?..etc etc...are we all about the same ? ...I'm talking Mammals here but a selection of non mammalian temps would also be nice !

Dog - 101-102.5^oF
Horse - 98.5-101^oF

I don't know any others offhand.

Birds generally have temperatures around 40°C (although I don't know how much variability there is in that, but flight generally requires a lot of energy, and generates a lot of heat).

THANK YOU MR GEORGE. I calculate that to be about 104F.

I would assume that our temperature raises when being very active too..eg : exercising and so I would expect a relaxing bird to be slightly cooler.

However, just these few bits of data is already pointing to the fact that there seems to be no extremes.....unless...anybody knows different !

I suppose there are bacteria and stuff that live in hot pools and/also ice packs ! (Or am I thinking of lichen and moss ?).............but........besides those ?
