Hello Nutrition boffins!
Is it healthy to eat oats for lunch/dinner, can it help me to lose weight and will it be safe for my body?
I just want to add that I don't currently do this but I am thinking of it and I will throw in a few pieces of fruit during the day and some protein(tuna/chicken) as well.
I am currently going to gym 4 times a week, but I'm not happy with the results, that is why I want to try change my diet so I can lose weight.

Man cannot live by bread (or other cereals) alone ...

Oats do have some good qualities, but as RD points out, it would be a very good idea to supplement your diet.

Definitely eat a well balanced diet which balanced amount of whole grains and oats, etc. fruits, vegetables, also, Oats have a good effect on lowering cholesterol also.. add a touch of cinnamon..too, its also good for reducing cholesterol.Balance is good...

Thanks, I definitely 'want' to eat a balanced diet, but I dont know how :(
Could you perhaps post a daily meal plan? That would be very beneficial to me and others I'm sure.
Thanks :)

Oatbran specifically is supposed to be very helpful in reducing cholesterol...something to do with the amount of either soluble fiber.....I use it...I just sprinkle it on stuff and add some in smoothies too !....Don't use it as a talcum powder substitute though..!!..cos that is wrong .....and itchy !!

LOL...LOL Yes indeedy..wrong and itchy! LOL.. I like oat bran in my smoothies also...Green smoothies are great a new friend of mine has me drinking them and I must say they are terrific and they make me feel great!

I am no good at making a daily meal plan as I am not that organized, and I am pretty spontaneous and go by what I have on hand at any given meal....I do make a 1/2 gallon canning Jar full of green smoothie and drink that throughout the day and eat less or very little meat these days...I might have small amount of chicken breast and or imitation crab as a meat and get most protein elsewhere, beans, nuts, etc....I have been doing this for the last three weeks or so...Mostly raw food mostly uncooked etc... Check out the raw food diet!
