Title: Why do my knees pop and hurt after running?
Post by: thedoc on 01/08/2012 11:30:01
Victor Mekary  asked the Naked Scientists:

Hello,

My name is Victor Marchi Mekary.

It's been years that I have this problem with my knees, every time a do a squat, the first one always makes my knees pop!

It does not hurt but it is sometimes uncomfortable to my knees!

I also started running a lot, 12-14 kilometres once or twice a week, and my knees sometimes hurt!

I have bought Asics shoes and have seen a lot of improvementon my knees, the do not hurt or feel uncomfortable when I run that much!

Was wondering if there is anything I can do to improve more!

Thank you,

VMM

What do you think?

If it just pops the once, (rather than every time you bend), then cavitation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavitation#Biomedical_application) is a possible explanation, like "cracking" knuckles ... http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/content/latest-questions/question/1477/
