Title: Do you think human immortality is possible, given biological immortality?
Post by: seanmashitoshi on 31/01/2015 13:29:19
Hey everyone! First time posting on here, hope I've posted to the right place. So I've been watching this relatively new TV show called Forever, where the protagonist is immortal. Then cruising the section of science videos on youtube, I came across this one:

It ends with the concept of biological immortality and its worth a watch, but it got me thinking about how feasible it is. I've done a fair bit of reading about telomere shaving and calorie restriction prolonging life by reducing the aging process, but do you think halting or pausing aging all together in humans would be possible and if so, care to venture a guess for a time frame?

First off, Apologies for the delayed response.
This being a very interesting topic still the OP somehow remained untouched which isn't surprising considering when you're at a beauty pageant as an avid spectator you do tend to miss out on a few smiling butterflies.
Just a bit vague though, it got more than 2000+ views but no replies.

Now on the Topic, biological immortality is definitely achievable.
If a jellyfish can do it without a brain, nature's showing it's possible & a no brainer too.

Now trying to put a timer or stopwatch as to when is difficult.
The OP began in the first month of 2015 and we're half way through 2018 and I personally haven't found anything new data or information except the one you already stated, which is ' telomere shaving and calorie restriction '.

P.S. - I'm aware this OP is about 3yrs n over, but I wanted to start a new OP similar n related to this Topic hence thought of continuing with this.

What I wanted to know is if Tomorrow(really next day) a pharmaceutical giant announced an immortality pill has been made which stops aging completely and the cost of which is merely 1$/1£ (yeaah rite, use excessive imagination please) would You buy the pill?
Do you think your neighbours will buy it?
What about rich tycoons & promissory politicians, would they? (negate the fact that they will make it absolutely impossible for you to obtain the pill until you're one of them)
Would you want to " Live Forever "
If Yes, then Why?
If No, then Why not?
And lastly, I would Love to read your imaginations on how the world would be(change) the day after Tomorrow.
