Title: What could this creature be?
Post by: Mirage on 31/07/2008 16:38:37
A friend of mine found a rather odd looking creature at the bottom of his garden.
Does anyone know or has any ideas as to what this thing is?

I don't know what sort of grub it is but you need to get something on that lawn - it's nearly all clover. [;D]

I looks a bit like a privet hawkmoth caterpillar, but there are differences.

On second thoughts it does look  more like a caterpillar than a beetle larva, and it seems to have a spike on its rear like your pic of the hawkmoth caterpillar. It could be an elephant hawkmoth caterpillar.......?
