Holy cow! 103 hamburgers in 8 minutes

Sun Oct 28, 8:35 PM ET

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - A competitive eater who has already triumphed at a famous hot dog eating contest swallowed 103 small hamburgers in 8 minutes Sunday to take home $10,000.

Joey Chestnut, 23, of San Jose, Calif., surpassed the previous record of 97 Krystal burgers — 2 1/2 inches square — held by Japan's Takeru Kobayashi, set at last year's Krystal Square Off.

"We never thought we'd see someone anywhere near, let alone past, the century mark when we started the Krystal Square Off in 2004," said Brad Wahl, vice president of marketing for The Krystal Co.

Chestnut beat 12 other contestants. Kobayashi, who won all previous Krystal Hamburger Eating Championships, didn't compete this year because of lingering jaw pain from having a wisdom tooth extracted in June.

The $10,000 prize money should cover the cost of coronary-artery bypass surgery.

I fortunately do not have to have this surgery but already owe the doctors more then that , just trying to fix what they thought was this problem or similar! I hit over 10,000 dollars about two months ago.. With a new bill ready for delivery this week! I think your estimate needs revision! LOL!

If Mr Chestnut had gobbled 144 burgers that would be gross.  [:)]

If $10,000 is not enough Mr Chestnut could earn some more cash from product endorsements
for Pepto-Bismol, Exlax and Dyno-Rod.  [:)]

The BBC TV programme Hollywood Science only rated the possibility of eating 50 eggs in an hour,
as depicted in the movie Cool hand Luke, as 20%.

If Mr C can eat 108 burgers in 8 minutes, the 50 eggs in an hour would be a piece of cake,
(although bystanders should be equipped with gas masks).  [:)]

I think he would have to add some flour, water, rising agent, etc., for it to be a piece of cake.

And finish off the meal with a "wafer thin mint" [:)]
