Title: How does the earth's rotation affect and aeroplane's speed?
Post by: thedoc on 22/09/2016 13:53:01
Habibullah Bahar asked the Naked Scientists:
We know the earth spins on her own axis one time within 24 hours. If circumference of the earth (approximately) 25,000 miles or 40,000 kilometer, then spin speed will be 1667 kilometer per hour towards west (not east). If an airplane moves from a point to wards west side with a speed 1667 kilometer per hour or less, it could never goes to the destination but if the airplane move from a point to wards east side (against of earth spin), it does not need to speed up, only it can wait to go the destination towards east side (as earth is moving to towards west), is not it?
What do you think?
