Ok, I have tried to find information on these on line but keep getting some rare disease which causes these. I want to know what they are and why there would be one in my Quadrilateral space syndrome?

It sounds like 'mysterious things' keep you company all the time!!!
You should specify: subcortical cysts, of the bone?

...This is the question...

"...What exactly IS a subcortical cyst anyway?"

Cortex of a bone is the thick external layer.
Subcortical is something just under the cortex, in the spongy matrix of the bone.
Cysts may be of different nature (chronic inflammation, etc.)
