Post by: syhprum on 29/02/2012 19:43:38
Has anyone tried to load this, I downloaded it from the microsoft site decoded it with WinRar and copied it onto the USB device from Which I could load Win 7 or the earlier version of Win 8 no problem.
All ran normally until it said look on the box in which you purchased it and enter the serial number!
End of loading attemp.

You might check out the Microsoft FAQ
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/faq

Under the section:
Do I need a product key to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview?

I never seem to have that problem when loading Linux!!!!

Found it after a hunt 7N8MG-QMHHP-WJV6V-QBWJ4-KBPK8
There are two different ways to download the OS, I chose the ISO which does not include the code.
This is not the one your advice lead me to but it works fine.

The new Gnome also has an odd menu, spreading the program "icons" across the desktop.  The nice thing is that it gives one big icons for an easy target, but I'm not sure it is really necessary.

I chose to use KDE instead.

Start is there right at the bottom left of the task bar, some things seem to work better with this OS than with windows 7 !

Using Windows media and a DTV dongle (Blaze HDTV 6.0) I find that what ever I do I cannot get it to differenciate between 16/9 transmissions and 4/3 transmissions with the Russia RT pictures disproed to an abnormall width.
Using windows 8 or the software supplied with the dongle everthing works fine, have any other correspondents tried this ?.
P.S using the seriel number that I quoted the OS is listed as fully activated with no time limitation as was the case with early free versions of Windows 7
