Post by: neilep on 19/09/2009 11:11:51
Dearest Pins & Needlesologists,

Hippy Saturday to ewe !...what are your plans for the weekend ?...we're all due to go shopping !...oh yes !!..fun and games and hilarity will ensue !...wanna  come ?
...........does anybody want anything ?..they have a good deal on bread at the moment ! I really do enjoy these chats eh ?

Anyway, as a sheepy I of course conduct many consultations. Now, I actually prefer to sit on the floor thusly !

Me Sitting On The Floor Thusly

I can normally sit like this for quite a long time...a consultation can last up to a couple of hours !...

Occassionally, when sitting like this my legs go all numb...is this what they call ' going to sleep ?'....I can still stand and do stuff but lose the feeling of them for a while..Now, I realise it has something to do with a lack of blood circulation so I have a few questions !

Why does the lack of blood circulation mean I can't feel my legs ?
What exactly is the pins and needles  ?
Does Cutting the circulation off to my legs increase my Blood Pressure ?

Ewe see, it's Saturday !..I would like to know the answers before Sunday if possible !

Hippy Saturday to ewe all !

Hugs & Shmishes

mwah mwah mwah !!

Lack of circulation causes blood loss to lower extremities in your case thus it can cause swelling.. but also if left begins destroying tissue etc.. Lack of feeling happens as you loose the circulation so that causes like having a group of nerves impinged I would guess and you loose feeling and the ability to walk after a bit.. the tingling is the blood flooding back through the veins and waking your legs up again movement and blood flow and oxygen to the lower limbs is vital.. for movement I would guess!

I am not sure if it increases blood pressure?

It might increase blood pressure because generally speaking, the arteries lay deeper and the veins lay closer to the surface. Therefore I´d say the veins are more likely to be squeezed close.
The pins and needles has not so much to do with blood, but rather nerve signals being blocked. When you restore the nerve communication, your brain will be temporarily overwhelmed with signals, which is being expressed in the pins and needles sensation

Maybe you should lose some weight.
Have you ever tried selling yourself as mutton?

Thank ewe Karen. That's great info. I guess, I'll have to do some stretching exercises through out each consultation. Hmm..not happy about the swelling !!...well..in my legs that is !

LOL...LOL...Hmmm. well you are just fine its not like you are staying that way for 24 hours or anything as if that were the case I would think then that you may risk some damage due to lack of blood flow I would think... I am no doctor but have heard that people have actually damaged limbs by cutting off circulation too long.
