The puzzle statement up there is incomplete. Here is the complete version:

Whomever makes me does not tell; whomever uses me does not know; whomever knows me does not want me if they are are law abiding.

Hint:It is not a spill in the lab; but, it is a physical object.

Those earlier comments about the French were not appreciated. Anyone who says things like that have just absorbed ideas from around them and haven't yet learned to think things through for themselves. Most countries in the world would say the same things about Americans: you know the stereotype is that they're mostly obese, stupid, their news is censored to make the US sound better, their history lessons are only about the US or mostly, and their mindset is that nothing outside the US matters, they don't know anything about the rest of the world and are too stupid to think things through for themselves. That's not necessarily what I think but that is the general stereotype around the world. Where would you be if everyone just absorbed ideas without digesting them?

Am I dead? Am I alive? I'm both!

Oh....   dear quantumcat, its called irony.
While I don't want to speak for Oldman (who is from australia by the way, not the US) I would like to say that most people I know, when they make carcks about the french are being SARCASTIC and a way of making fun of the people who are dumb enough to actually not like the french.  (We had a French person interviewing for a position in our lab yesterday and we took her out for lunch and sat around carcking french jokes all afternoon...it was so much fun. she knew that we were kidding, so it was all ok, but it was really our way of indirrectly poking fun at stereotypical americans).
Also you'd better be careful about propogating your american "stereotype" because for the most part everything you said was true.  So people might satrt assuming that the french stereotypes are true.
Ah I love being part of the center of the universe (america that is of course)<---Irony!!!!

Eh, eh, what's dat you say?  Try to be frenchies?  Let's see, we in Alberta would have to stop contributing to the economic health of the country, create a bajillion little bureaucracies to hide the fact that we are siphoning millions, resign as leader and run off to Denmark to join our cohorts.  Meanwhile Canadians would sit by apathetically and let it happen, so we never go to jail (like any other criminals would).  Maybe you've got a good idea!

As for the riddle; most people speak twice as much as they hear don't they?

Could be:
Accounting (bringing home the bacon)
The meat of the matter
Heavy math
It ain't the meat it's the motion
A side of math, or all math aside (side bacon)
Math's back (back bacon)
The pig's days were numbered

You could go about a million different ways with this.

I know the answer....it's all to do with how actors are connected together with their appearences along side Kevin Bacon in films ( I suppose you could use any actor eh?)...due to the relatively petite world that is the acting arena there are variables and formulas that manifest themselves due to the fact that they group into batches (the batches being the cast of a film) and the many relationships and connections with each batch too ....(smug mode[:D])...

Wouldn't have got it without that hint though.

I'm always amazed when I see people from the North American continent writing 'math'. What happened to the 's' on the end ? Or should we be calling it 'mathematic' these days ?
