Title: Could this new rotary disk internal combustion engine work?
Post by: fuhandaigou on 06/03/2010 16:29:58
I have designed a powerful rotary internal combustion engine. When rotor round one time, engine work six times. It can be used UAV power or portable generator or soldier power.for it is a high speed machine ,we can pay few attention about the seal problem.you know, when the speed of the engine is more higher, the gas is harder to escape .It can be producted only by Stamp-forming Process ,or used electrospark wire-electrode cutting, when manufactory it can save lot of money.but I can't made it.who can heip me manufacture my engine.I have sent a video to YouTube about a  rotary engine. If you interesting,  please to see it, and give me a comment.my e-mail: sky-hawk@126.com

It have many advantages than WANKEL , especially in small areas with using .
1 forging of mass production to achieve a significant reduction in the cost of production.
2. six cell, was more than double than the WANKEL. compact structure than the WANKEL,powerthan WANKEL.
3. seal system adopts seal and maze,in the forging of forging a number at the same time very small grooves, constitute a maze. improving Sealing performance.
of course, this machine is not designed for the car! it is tiny machinery powered! so, economy and emission is not important, manufacturing costs and power is important!

Hi DiscoverDave
Thank you for you comment,I have patented some years ago.If you interested it,could you help me contact some one to me manufacture it? powerful engine can be used in UAV power and soldier power.

Is this a good engine?
Can you give more information about it's combustion cycle. Perhaps an illustration of the gas flow through your engine.

Am I right in thinking it uses some kind of wobble-rotor in place of a crank-shaft?

Looks very interesting.

The pin that (appears third in your video) seems to be taking an extraordinary amount of force and constant friction; is this viable? what substance would the vertical tips of the rotator be constructed from - it seems that any imbalance and these would be subject to rapid erosion and loss of power.

I have send a simple four-stroke diagram to the following, Please express views.thanks!

In terms of functionality, it's likely to give your English a run for its money.

Have you run any calculations to support your claims?
Eg. You say it's more powerful than an equivalent sized Wankel engine, but this needs evidence.  I would have thought there will be a massive increase in metal fatigue compared to a Wankel rotor, straight off.

I think it is also key to demonstrate where such an engine would be advantageous over a standard power-plant, with specific examples; say, versus a current generator used by the military.

I better say that I am not an engineer - although that will probably become obvious. Can parts be accurately manufactured and will they maintain integrity at such small scales; whilst withstanding the heat and pressure of chemical explosions?  in more depth...

From comparison with your picture of a pencil - I would estimate your central axle to be around 1mm in diameter.  this axle is pierced by a smaller diameter pin that allows a second axis of rotation and in effect transmits all the power.  is this feasible?

Secondly, I would imagine that particulate debris of incomplete combustion will eventually be formed; with such small tolerances and dimensions will the engine be able to effectively remove this.  I ask because the ratio between size of particle and engine will be significantly higher than in a 'normal' sized engine.

Reservations aside, I still hope that you can make a roaring success out of it and pay back all your obvious hard work

I agree with Imat about the scale. I think you would want to scale it up a few times. This would make the tolerances a lot more realistic.

Not to be too much of a wet blanket, but I see a problem. Basically, it's the same problem that the Wankel has. Making the seals effective and long lived is a real challenge, and I think that is one of the main reasons why the Wankel has never really taken off. Conventional piston rings are incredibly effective and very difficult to replace. Ineffective seals create pollution and result in major power losses.

The other problem is that it does not really do anything to alter the basic thermodynamics of the IC engine. There are many alternative ways of constructing an IC engine (I even have one myself!) but unless they do something to reduce the enormous amount of energy that gets wasted as heat, it's very difficult to get anyone to invest in them.

Despite that, maybe you can find a particular application that is a good fit for your invention. Maybe model aircraft or something?
