Title: Can I get a vibrating magnetic tattoo?
Post by: Conspirologist on 28/02/2014 06:34:41
I Have a question about something that another member of this forum had posted a while back. It relates to electromagnetism. ScientificSorcerer Was talking about a "magnetic tattoo ink" which was patented by Nokia I am interested In getting this tattoo because it has the capability to vibrate. look at this video link describing it.

What I'm wondering is how it actually "vibrates" Dose the tattoo need an AC magnetic field to activate the vibration? If so could someone please clarify how the tattoo is able to vibrate? I would very grateful If you could help.

Now I don't want to sound inappropriate But I want this power for "phallic reasons" I'm just being honest, that is the reason why I want the tattoo, don't judge, I bet my girlfriend would really like it :-)

My guess is that what Nokia is doing...  at least theoretically, is putting a tattoo, perhaps just metallic ink near one's pocket.  Then using the telephone to transmit magnetic pulses which cause a non-contact vibrating sensation.  You'd always have to have the transmitter and tattoo in close proximity.

My guess a far better option would be a true implantable alert device, somewhat like a pacemaker, although I couldn't imagine actually wanting one.  If attached it to the skull, you could potentially also create an auditory sensation.

As far as making your skin crawl for a visual effect, it sounds quite annoying.  You'd probably implant the metal in the skin, then expose it to an external magnetic field.  Strength would be related to distance, so the transmitter would have to be fairly powerful if hidden from the visible part of the tattoo.

The top ten reasons for regretting a tattoo don't currently include "it sets off the metal detectors at airports".
Do you wan't to be the first bloke to have to explain that to the immigration officials?

Wait what??? what are you going to use it for again?

Never-mind, IDWTK... Still, when I discussed this topic a wile back I also talked about an ink yet to be invented, piezoelectric ink! I think if you want skin vibrations without a close by transmitter then I might suggest high frequency, high voltage skin effect. If you used nikola tesla skin effect and you had piezoelectric ink, then the electric field will activate the crystal vibrations of the ink in your skin. thus producing "hightened sensation" of the area that has the ink on it/high levels of vibration.

Magnetic Prince Albert ? , [ at least it's removable, unlike a tattoo ]

If you do, don't go anywhere near an MRI machine (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=20556.msg229916#msg229916) ... Xo
