It looks to me, like it has been cut or broken into this shape.

Hello. I had a seminar session handling stone tools and from the pictures you show me, it does look like something that has been worked.
Specifically, you can see what is called the 'bulb of percussion' and the ripples that eminate from this. This is the normal way that flake reacts to being struck by another stone.
When I revise my lithics for my exam coming up, I'll come back and try to tell you more about the piece. :)
