Moroccan Fossils
I photographed this in Italy last year. I was told it was from Morocco. This piece was around two m2 in size. I just thought the fossils were amazing to look at. The link below the photo is to a 23.4 Mb uncompressed image if like to see the detail.

BASS or EXODUS here could have a few things to say about it.

The curvey things look like some sort of ammonites - free swiming shelled creatures, a bit like a nautilus.

All the macrofossils are nautaloids. Curled ones obviously ammonites as DS says. The straight one can be identified from the large picture. If you look clost at the pointed end you can see the air tube that lets a living nautaloid regulate the ammount of gas in the hollow part of the shell so it, as the other nautoloids can move up and in the water column.
If I only had a little humility, I'd be perfect.

Definite fossil envy!!!
Beautiful nautiloids. The enclosing rock matrix looks to be some sort of limestone/marble. Possibly Devonian (Orthoceras) in the second picture, though hard to tell?
Subduction causes orogeny.

Yes it is limestone I think they are Ammonite and Orthoceris these are both extinct cephalopods. The Orthoceris had a straight shell and existed from the Lower Ordovician through Upper Triassic - 400 Million Years to about 200 Million years.
The Ammonite, or Ammonoidea, had a tightly coiled shells, and many are ornamented with ribs, bumps, and spines. The Ammonite existed from the Devonian through Cretaceous - 395 Million Years to about 100 Million Years. Living cephalopods include the squids, cuttlefish, octopods, and nautilus. In these fossils, what you see is the fossilized outer shell of the anima.

your never wrong. I'd never do that. Just wished to mention that the ones in the second picture are ammonites viewed edge-on. They are disks that are being viewed in crosseciton. only the one that has a termination that is square is a possible Orthoceris. I reserve a definie oppinion untill you break the whole piece apart and see how far this fossile extends into the matrix. It could just be a broken ammonite. But you are not going to do that, are you?

Oh boy i wish i was never wrong!! But I well able to achieve it without to much help. We have a lovely word that covers fools in general or making a food of yourself or even making a mistake. You be called an ejit (also can sound like e-jet) it not meant in a harsh way unless you don’t know the person then offence can be taken.
