Title: Why Does My Rigid Stick Go Bendy ?................(A celery question !)
Post by: neilep on 17/06/2008 16:15:20
Dear Cerelyologists,

Look at this will ya ?

 [ Invalid Attachment ]

Less than 5 days old and my rigid girth has gone all floppy !! [;)]

It still tastes crunchy....well..perhaps a tad less crunchy.....

So.....what's happened to my Celery stick  ?!!...it just flops around and makes me not a happy sheepy !!

I don't suppose plunging it into cold water will revive it will it ?........actually *sheepy has a thought moment...oooh...struggles but it's clearly a thought that is emerging*......do ewe think that wacking them in water ALA flowers when purchased ....will stave off the will to cave in to gravity ?...is there a way to revive it ?

Whajafink ?

Hugs...shmishes and celery dishes !!

I always put mine in ice water for a while, even a bed of ice, before I use it! That helps..The limp thing!

Yes it helps... But you need like an hour in advance.. to chill them! in the ice water..

try one.. It is not perfect but seems to help...

But I can't wait a whole hour !!....I mean...c'mon !!..that's 60 whole minutes !!.......I will either have to enjoy it 'as is'  or use a fresh celery stick as a splint !!

I'm gonna try your suggestion Karen.  I've put my limp stick in the fridge, submerged in ice water.  Hopefully when I come back from the gym, I'll be able to enjoy a nice, stiff, cruncy celery stick! [:)]

LOL.. My mom told me about that when I was a wee girl and I have done it my whole life. It will crisp up cucumbers too!  They loose moisture and dehydrate and if you use ice water its better! most any greens green onions in a cup of cold water bulb end down!
