From just that small sample it seems better to keep driving and try and steer than to brake and just let gravity and momentum take you into the mix-up

Yeah there's a Merc or Xfire or something about 50 secs in that is bowling down the hill, but stays off the brakes and in control - Snow-driving 101.
I impressed by the red car that reverses out the way of some sliding fool (brakes locked) and then calmly drives round the mess afterwards.

I suspect none of these folks had studded tires. I'm pretty sure I could have gone
up
the hill in my wife's Jeep - it's got studs.

Lucky I don't have snow to contend with........
Though a short storm dropped around 30mm of rain or so in 2 hours just now.
Total for month is around 170mm so far......
