A friend of mine was diagnosed today as possibly suffering from it. From what she said, she was treated appallingly by the hospital. She's been given no information & was left to make her own way home. Prior to that, she waited from 9am until 2pm for the ambulance to arrival after her doctor's request for 1.
She needs to know what she can and can't do - can she put her legs up? Carry on more-or-less as normal, or what? As I said, the doctor at the hospital gave her no information whatsoever.
She's been put on warfarin and I've been able to give her a few guidelines about that as I was on that for while as a result of having a pulmonary embollism. But that's as much help as I can be. Can anyone else offer any advice?

Doc last night i had this pain in my inner thigh and then my leg went a little numb and the numbness didn't totally disappear until earlier today. and now your talking about dvt's has got me thinking. What are the signs of a dvt's do they cause the dead leg feeling.

Michael - I don't know what the signs are. Ann was on the stairs and the way she described to me was as if a tendon had popped in her leg. She said it was lucky she was hanging on to the bannister. She's a big woman, and collapsing on the stairs isn't funny for someone like her. I know when I had the clot on my lung the pain was a really vicious, sharp pain. Judging by what Ann said, it sounds as if that may be a symptom. But as I said, I really don't know.
I'm hoping Chris comes across this post and can supply some answers.
