Last night i left a beaker of water on the kitchen side, tap water, when i awoke this morning there were bubbles on the side of the beaker. Bubbles! from still tap water! Where did they come from?

The bubble fairies put them there (at least, that's what Neil would suggest as the reason) [:D]

Tapwater usually contains dissolved gases notably air and air in water pipes is under pressure and cooler than the local air temeperature so when the water is allowed to stand some of the disolved gas comes out of the water because liquids in general disolve less gas as they warm up.
