Not really a complicated answer. There is no strong evidence to support the existence of god.

There is about as much evidence as there is about dragons. Do you believe in dragons?

There's also no evidence for the anthropic principle - except the fact that we are here - and that can be used as evidence of a Creator, too. However, some scientists will subscribe to the anthropic principle while vehemently denying the existence of a Creator.. makes you wonder about the nature of faith, really.

Well, god or no god, big bang or not, we are still stuck in the same hole, and science will be the one to come to our rescue, as the real god is nowhere to be found. Unless MAYBE HE is talking to us with science??? Maybe he has embedded messages in the vibrations of atoms or the ripples of an ocean...

Either way science will be our saviour and perhaps our communication tool with the divine as well one day...

But to answer your question : Simple, the bible says the world was created a few thousand years ago, and the rest of the entire universe suggests a few billion years ago, scientists tend to be swayed more by real evidence than a book.

Likewise, other gods of other religions have little evidence to suggest they are real entities, and most of them suffer from counter-evidence provided by science.

It is because they yet to discover the truth. The bible says you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. They are yet to know the truth.

I respect your view, but I must ask why should the truth be hidden so well under the veils of physics and chemistry? Why does the bible not just tell it all in black and white without any grey areas? Surely this would have been a better strategy from the beginning because it would have avoided lots of unneccesary religous fighting over the centuries....

Come to think of it, why leave it so late?
The Bible and other books like it have only been around for a few thousand years. People have been here for about a hundred times longer.

Why did God wait for 99% of history to go past before sending us the instruction book?

I think the bible is great for teaching morals and ethics, but not for relating to science, its probably easier for a kitty cat to work out a rubiks cube then it is for us to relate the bible to reality.
