Title: What is this rock, which contains white and green crystals?
Post by: ChrisApples on 10/04/2016 23:00:30
I've had this for a while sitting around and never bothered to figure out what it is. I found it on a beach maybe ten years ago, does anyone know what it is? Light to dark green with white and clear parts. It appears the side of it has a little rust as well.   [ Invalid Attachment ]

Looks similar to green fluorite with quartz (https://www.google.com/search?site=&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1280&bih=649&q=green+fluorite+with+quartz&oq=green+fluorite+with+quartz&gs_l=img.12...2191.2191.0.5063.1.1.0.0.0.0.96.96.1.1.0....0...1..64.img..0.0.0.flVoh56u7aQ) ...

( but that's just a guess )

Fluorite usually fluoresces under UV light (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Fluorescent_minerals_hg.jpg).

Definitely not fluorite.
Green is not quite the right color for several of the copper minerals, the most common being malachite.
My best guess in mixture of chlorite, actinolite and quartz.
