Are the numorous products that claim to clean out the intistineal track really bennifical, or can they do harm. One I was looking at was or claimed to be totally natural and had testamonials of people passing worms and items of all colors and sizes.

The orthodox view is that colonic irrigation is useless or even harmful:-
“”But opposing doctors say that colonic irrigation is worse than useless. "It has no value," Barrett says, "and it can be harmful in several ways." According to Barrett, colonic equipment, if not properly sterilized, can trigger serious infections. Also, the wear and tear of repeated irrigation, he says, can foul up normal bowel function by destroying the reflexes that tell you when nature's calling. Electrolyte imbalance can cause the chemicals in the blood to change composition, and excessive fluid absorption can, in some cases, trigger heart failure.””

Intestinal worms can be large enough to be seen without magnification:-
“”Cysticercoids develop into adult worms in the small intestine of the host in about 20 days. The adult worm may attain a length of 10-70 cm and is 2-3 mm in diameter. The lifespan of the worm is less than 1 year.””

Recent research suggests that intestinal worms can be beneficial in allergic / autoimmune diseases:-

Stephen Barret has zero credibility and contrary to popular belief is biased in favour of allopathic medicine to the point of being successfully sued for his relentless persecution of CAM. Now Barret is being hunted down and sued by the people he and his cronies have stalked. http://carecure.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21795

This is another source which describes colonic irrigation as a source of infection:-

""Amebiasis is an infection caused by the protozoal organism Entamoeba histolytica and includes amebic colitis and liver abscess.... Less common means of transmission include contaminated water, oral and anal sexual practices, and direct rectal inoculation through colonic irrigation devices.""

Rather I was referring to products taken orally: fiber and other supplements to encourage passing unwanted things. The site specifically is    http://www.drnatura.com/     It has horrible photos not for those with a weak stomach (considering their pretense). What it appears to be is an extreme form of fiber and laxative, causing expulsion of built up food sediment and worms.
Any thoughts on these products
