Title: Is there a black hole at the center of our galaxy??
Post by: Cut Chemist on 08/09/2007 04:11:11
And will it have any effect on our climate?

Basically:  Does this video have any merit or credibility??  Here's the link:

I realize that this is a far fetched idea,

However:
Is it possible that our solar system might eventually pass through the gravitational plane of the black hole at the center of our galaxy???  And would that bring catastrophic events to our planet?  Or is this a complete hoax??

I watched about 5 minutes of this slldeshow and found it incredibly boring, the only thing of interest was trying to understand what was behind it.
Black holes, it is generally thought that most galaxies contain a massive black hole we rotate around this about once every 500 million years so its gravitational effect on us is pretty small compared to other sources.

To long and boring. Heard some crap about the earth was gonna come to an end due to us passing through the galactic plain.

It probably made by some very unknown and poorly educated wannabe scientists trying to make a name for themselves. [;D]

As far as the SMBH goes it has no direct affect on us ,we are toooo far away.
