As the atmosphere of the Earth has been different at other times in the past, what colour skies may we have seen in the past?

If the earth has had no atmosphere then the sky would have been black. With an atmosphere the colour of the sky can be strongly influenced by dust, volcanic ash can give red sky or blue greys.
