Hello,
I am studying the relationship between London Plane trees and their uptake of pollution. To do this I have had bark from 6 different London Plane trees in the centre of Winchester tested for nitrate and nitrite (this is the only pollutants the laboratory could test for me). I have the results and I plan to compare them to oxides of nitrogen levels recorded by air monitoring stations, two of which are located nearby to the trees in the city centre. However, I have just had a thought and am wondering if nitrate is either naturally occurring or present in the bark of trees anyhow, because if so my results from the bark analysis could be showing these levels, not the nitrates from air pollution.
Any help would be appreciated
