Dearest Blood-Donorologists,
As a sheepy, I of course do my duty by donating my blood.
Here I have helped a teddy called Timmy...which is nice !!

Donating blood has many health benefits.....especially for the recipient...D'OH !!
But I have heard that it helps to reduce cholesterol and that it aids in weight loss !
So, how many calories does a body burn to rejuvenate a pint of blood ?..and are there really specific health benefits for the donor ?
As a firm believer in empirical study I snuck into my neighbours house at 3am this morning and donated two pints of blood (well..it was ketchup) to the top of his stairs which I felt looked a bit languid.
It's right...the joy I received as my happy neighbour slid down the stairs as a result of my donation benefited my 'guffaw ' and ' ' chortle' department no end !
so..whajafink ?
Hugs & shmishes

According to the Mayo Clinic...
You burn about 650 calories by donating one pint of blood.
http://www.mayoclinic.org/donateblood/know.html
650 calories is almost three Mars bars.
Blood donation is one pint every three or four months.
So if the 650 calorie figure is correct, by becoming a blood donor you can eat about ten extra ten Mars bars per year,
(=> 1/5th of a Mars bar per week).

It seems the Mayo Clinic have removed the calorie reference since I made this post in 2008.

Teletubbie merchandising has gone a step too far [:)]
[BTW bloody teletubbie wouldn't work: blood would not drain from 3 of its limbs]

Cost £350,000 [:0] (if the refrigeration fails it will be a bloody expensive mess [:)] ).

Wow, that is crazy!!!!!

Maybe a head cast using the artist's frozen urine would be more appropriate as he's obviously taking the p***

I think the blood might syphon out of the teddy's limbs, but I'm not sure. With the pipe at the bottom full of blood it will create a partial vacuum so it should be able to empty the bag as long as the arms don't fold and crease.

It may well have done

Saatchi bought the piece for a rumoured £13,000 in 1991

£350,000 in 2009, not a bad return on his investment,
but I suppose the electricity bill to keep it solid for 18 years must be quite high [:)].
