Title: Do Other Animals have monthly menstrual cycles ?

About once a month I'm guilty !!..Everything is MY fault and also my kids !... walking on tip toes is order of the day !


.......but what about our other animal cousins....?..are the males just as guilty as often as I am ?

I think other mammals do have a cycle.... a swift google suggests that horses have a 21 day cycle during the breeding season, bitches have a 120 day cycle, cats will go on and off heat at length about 2-4 times per year unless bred/spayed.
I've a residual idea from somewhere that female guinea pigs will ovulate when near males, but I've no back up for that.

Certainly, it was my recollection that some animals only ovulate when they mate (i.e. they are effectively always on heat, but don't have any wasted cycles).

Why do I keep thinking about rabbits, whether it be about teeth or ovulation?

I believe large cats come on heat when a new male enters the pride, and kills all the current juveniles.
