If you believe there should me more options ..then tell me....if you then want (as a consequence of ewe telling me about more options)..more than one vote then tell me ......
...also...if ewe feel this poll is an inappropriate intrusion regarding a " member " also tell me...

I'm not telling which I voted for, but it wasn't options 1 or 3, so you can work it out for yourself, philosophically, of course.

I have the following objections to Coberst's posts:
1. He frequently posts thoughts that are either self evident, or generally accepted, or of little or no consequence, yet implies they are very insightful.
2. In a like manner he adopts a stance that he and he alone amongst forum posters has thought about these matters, has studied these matters and is the only one to have reached meaningful conclusions.
3. He rarely engages in dialogue.
4. Some of his apparent responses are simply copy and pastes of responses he has made to a totally different question on another forum.
5. He completely ignores anyone who has the temerity to disagree with him. (I have the distinct honour of having been ignored by him under five different pseudonyms on as many forums.)
6. If he happens once in a while to respond to a negative comment his favourite charge is that the poster is sophomoric. I find this especially amusing, since when I first read his simplistic posts I imagined they were written by an intelligent, but angst ridden teenager. I understand coberst is in his seventies.
7. Many of his posts have no point at all: they are simply regurgitated summaries of what he has read. When I have been familiar with the original material he is writing of I have found his summaries to have quite missed the points made by the original authors.
8. He promotes the value of critical thinking, but seems virtually devoid of this skill himself.
I would be willing to totally change my position on this if coberst were willing to
a) Respond honestly even to those who challenge his thinking.
b) Acknowledge that he is not the only poster who has thought long and hard about philosophy, world problems, politics, psychology and the like.
c) And somewhat as a repeat of a) definitely respond when a poster shows cleary with documented, peer reviewed citations that his statements are false.
Until then I shall just feel sorry for an old geezer who has lost his way and has little time left to find it.
Finally, you ask if this appropriate to discuss the character of a member in this way. No it is not. It is wrong. It is impolite. It is probably unproductive. If coberst will engage that critical thinking properly for just a moment he may appreciate it is his actions as detailed above that have driven me to behave in a manner I find unacceptable.
But, damn it all, I'm still going to push the Post button.

What Ophiolite said.

It is if I then don't get a poll debating how fantastic I am... [:D]
Can we have a new poll every few days on a member please... [;D]

How many votes do we need?
-
Pleas can we have a box for "I think Coberst is a failed AI experiment/ turing machine" please?
-
I luff Coberst. His sense of humour is second to none and he uses lots of big words. I vote 1 and I'm the only one!

Done...have allowed each voter to vote twice too....
-
I want to vote for that but it won't let me.
-
I don't think I'm enlightened or intelligent enough to answer the question. Funny thing is, Coberst agrees.

Won't it ?....sorry..I'm stumped as to why it would not. I will see if I can vote for that on your behalf 1
