Well, almost. It's the biggest rat I've ever seen. It was dragging a baby bunny into a hole behind the dung heap at our stable yard.
I don't want it there in case it decides to breed (if it hasn't done so already) but I'm not sure how to get rid of it. I don't want to put poison down as there are lots of rabbits, badgers & other wildlife there too & I don't want to poison them (plus I could see lots of holes near where I saw the rat so chances are there are other exits I haven't spotted. I'm not sure a rat trap big enough for this beastie has been built.
Any suggestions how I can get rid of it short of lying in wait with my shotgun?

I have lots of bunnies. 28 to be exact. 9 adult, 8 newborn, and the rest are almost a month old.

Try a humain trap that you have a soid bottom in set some bate inside and then wait for it to spring the trap door shut! It would have to be super tiny wire as the rat can shinny down to near nothing to get through very tiny places...

You don't want them coming from underside and pulling bate through the cage I have had them do that!~
We have some really huge wood rats here!
