Post by: neilep on 05/02/2009 16:20:25
Dearest Dreamers and Those With Experience Of dreaming,

As a sheepy I of course am the subject of many a young girls dream...and even some bois too...

Occassionally, rare that it is...... I have even dared to dream......look here I am dreaming away !

How do I know I am not dreaming now ?....some bloke rowed a boat and said ' life is but a dream'...
...Is there a way to know if I am dreaming now or not ? Is there a thing I can do or question myself to determine  if I am dreaming or not  ?

Ewe see, I just do not know !...I'd like to though.....

Perhaps this is one of those questions that just can not be answered eh ?

Slumber this bedding
Goose-Down is preen
Feathers in Pillow

The band is Supertramp  [:D]

Pinching yourself is said to wake you up when you're dreaming.

Theres probably nothing that you can do, but other people can measure what you're doing.

During REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, there is active dreaming. Heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature become much more variable. The first REM period usually lasts 10 to 15 minutes. During the night, these cycles of slow wave and REM sleep alternate, with the slow wave sleep becoming less deep and the REM periods more prolonged until waking occurs.

I know because when I am dreaming I am also aware of my own thoughts about the dream and usually can change its direction if I don't like it... Sometimes... its hard though depending on how hard I have gone to sleep how many days since I had slept etc...

Shortly before my old Grandad died he spent a while completely doolally with dementia. He spent much of the time trapped in memories of previous times. Once he got distressed because he was convinced he was late for work. He was nearly 90 but thought he was in his 30s. At the time I was in my 30s.

A thought occurred to me at that point. How could I know that I wasn't the one who was 90 trapped in a memory of visiting my Grandad as a young man? Would I 'wake up' shortly to find that I was sitting in a geriatric home and I had just wet myself while fat nurses talked at me in loud and condescending tones? Any one of us could wake up in a moment to find our lives have been stolen and we are on the verge of death.

I like to spread a little cheer.

I know that I'm not dreaming now because I'm not being chased by a giant carrot who wants to have my children, who subsequently turns into a large piece of cake and is then eaten by a large yeti type monster who is wearing my pants on his head.

Little things like that, you know?

I have never had a dream like that.. well once I was trapped at work the weather turned bad and we were flooded  with cream of chicken soup.. it was racing past the bulb farm swiftly like a river.. I was trapped and could not get out to go home! LOL.... But my dream actually made sense to me afterward as I had been living on cream of chicken soup for about a month! LOL I was 18 first time in my first place and did not budget well! So I found something I liked on sale...And bought a ton of cream of chicken soup and crackers! LOL.. I was so dumb! LOL

Some people do (wrongly) believe that their dreams are real: those who claim they can remember previous incarnations... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Past_life_regression
